Leipzig is one of the most emblematic cities in Germany, the birthplace of illustrious figures such as the philosopher and mathematician Gottfried Leibniz and Richard Wagner, and has been the residence of great figures such as Bach and Nietzsche. It is home of Leipzig University, the second oldest in Germany and undoubtedly one of the most interesting for all its historical, political and cultural wealth. You can witness several examples of socialist architecture, museums and, of course, the Church of St. Thomas, where Bach composed most of his work. Although it does not have the same popularity as Berlin or Munich, Leipzig has nothing to envy and is a must on your way through Germany.
