Very close to Berlin you can find this city founded around the seventh century and famous for its time housing the palace of Sanssouci, the summer residence of Frederick the Great, former King of Prussia. This historical character is evidenced by the large number of palaces and parks that have been considered World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, such as the Orangerie Palace, the New Potsdam Palace, the Sanssouci Park, the Babelsberg Park or the Chinese Tea House. Throughout history different cultures have coexisted leaving their mark over time. An example of this is the Dutch-style neighborhood next to the Nauener gate or the local Russian community, which has its own Orthodox church. Potsdam also has its own Brandenburg Gate, although it is much smaller than Berlin's.
