It is the second most populous city in Slovakia. It is located in the eastern part of the country, in the valley of the Hornád river in the Koice valley, surrounded by the Cierna Hora mountains to the north and the Volovské Vrchy mountains to the west. It is the home of several universities and the Slovak Constitutional Court. The city has a historical centre of great beauty. Dome of Saint Elisabeth in the historic centre is an important structure to point out. It is the biggest church in Slovakia.
